Westlaw | Online Research Library for Students
American Heritage University School of Law offers WestLaw® online legal research services to all of its students.
Westlaw is an online legal research service for lawyers and legal professionals in the United States and is a product of Thomson Reuters. In addition, it provides proprietary database services. Information resources on Westlaw include more than 40,000 databases of case law, state and federal statutes, administrative codes, newspaper and magazine articles, public records, law journals, law reviews, treatises, legal forms, and other information resources.
Most legal documents on Westlaw are indexed to the West Key Number System, which is West’s master classification system of U.S. law. Westlaw supports natural language and Boolean searches. Other significant Westlaw features include KeyCite, a citation checking service, which customers use to determine whether cases or statutes are still good law, and a customizable tabbed interface that lets customers bring their most-used resources to the top.
Westlaw FAQ
When to I get access to WestLaw?
Once a prospective student enrolls in the Juris Doctorate (JD) Program, signs an Enrollment Agreement, and pays the $430.00 down payment, they are issued a Westlaw ID.
Can I activate my Westlaw ID right away?
Yes. Once we send you a copy of your Westlaw ID, you can activate it right away. We do recommend waiting until after the first day of class before you began using it.
What happens to my Westlaw ID once I graduate?
As part of our ongoing commitment to our students during and after their legal education, students may continue using their Westlaw IDs for as long as they continue working!
I am a student and I do not have a Westlaw ID
As long as you are enrolled and you have an active student account, we can provide you with access. Please contact [email protected]
